The 52nd annual NAACP Image Awards took place virtually last month and was filled with so much black excellence and historical moments as we adjust to our new normal. Kicking off the show, we were presented with President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris, we all had no choice but to be tuned in.
There were so many surprises and great news shared that night! The Prevailing Woman magazine was granted the opportunity to participate in the virtual press room where the winners of each award joined several media outlets to answer questions and congratulate them on their wins!
We learned that Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are beginning to work on Bad Boys 4, as Bad Boys 3 did extremely well and they both took home an award that night for Most Outstanding Motion Picture. Simone Ledward Boseman took the stage and accepted the Best Supporting Actor and Best Actor award for her late husband Chadwick Boseman. Many of us got emotional and she delivered a powerful speech. “He was an uncommon artist and even more uncommon person, but the manner that we have lost him is not uncommon at all, not in our community.”
We learned so much during the press conference as 50 Cent, Marsai Martin, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and more entered the room to share their feelings on winning various awards. Deon Cole sat down with us to share who he thought was the closest acting to their actual character on the show Black-ish. You can hear the audio shared below.

It is always a pleasure to witness the greatness that black people exhibit, especially during the times we are in. We truly enjoyed celebrating the accomplishments and honors of our people of color and the paths they are creating for those behind them.
